Tech Guide

The Tech Guide is NeroTech's in-game handbook — a guided tour from your first Machine Frame to a running fusion plant, added in 0.1.0-beta.1. It comes in two forms:

  • The Tech Guide pedestal — a projector block. Place it in your base and it holographically projects your next incomplete step above itself, spinning and bobbing, so your current goal is literally visible from across the room.
  • The datapad — a hand-held version of the same guide for on the go.

Both open the same screen: chapters on the left, steps with icons and descriptions on the right, with completed steps ticked.

Progress is advancement-driven

The guide keeps no progress of its own — each step completes when you earn its advancement, so guide progress is exactly your advancement progress (per player, and it works retroactively: steps you have already done are already ticked).

The chapters

Eight chapters, twenty-two steps, mirroring NeroTech's arc:

  1. First Power — craft a Machine Frame, build a Nero Generator and a Solar Array, give the array clear skies. Their Nero Coils and Circuit Boards craft from copper and gold ingots, so no dust is needed yet (Standalone Progression).
  2. Processing — Ore Processor and Fabricator, then their Advanced tiers.
  3. Consequences — manage heat; meet your first Dirty Filter.
  4. Mitigation — build a Scrubber and a Remediator.
  5. Automation — Auto Crafter, Item Sorter, and the Configurator.
  6. Analytics — place an Analytics Terminal.
  7. Fusion — cast Fusion Casing, form a reactor shell, burn a Stellar Cell.
  8. Exotic Matter — widen the accelerator ring until its stretches run eleven blocks or more, collide two Stellar Cells into antimatter, build a Singularity Vault.
